A comparison of the offline simulation image and the real picture of the sensor shows a high degree of similarity. Use is made of this, even prior to the initial start-up of the system, to programme analytical algorithms based on the virtual data.

The result of consistently using offline simulation is data for the design of complex component grippers and their periphery.

This has the following advantages:

• Fail-safe image evaluation through offline check of sensor positions
• Coordination of projecting edges with the mechanical design
• Abbreviated initial start up - no on-site calibration required
• High level of flexibility - component grippers can be changed
• Changes to components are secured beforehand, and can be integrated quickly
